Interview

What’s your job or profession?:
Delivery Manager for an Engineering Company (Marine business)
Do you have any hobbies besides paragliding?:
Anything on two wheels - cycle touring, mountain biking and motorcycling, but also a keen photographer.
When and what inspired you to start paragliding?:
Watching the hang gliders testing on the IoW in the early days when I was out walking the hills & cliffs at home with my parents. (Airwave used to be based here.)
What are your favorite flying spots?:
Corryong in Victoria, Australia - it is just such an ancient landscape. Piedrahita, Spain - always feels like coming home when I go there - it was where I did my first foreign trip, and I’ve been visiting ever since.
What is your best flight or adventure?
Manilla to Bowman 2003 (Australia), approx 200km - in the days we measured distances in straight lines!
What do you like most about flying?:
It’s such a great excuse to travel to new places, meet new people and share the sky.
Why do you want to be part of the GIN team?:
Gin offered such support and friendliness to everyone at the competitions in 2025, I want to show my appreciation, as well as fly the best equipment! I’ve been flying with Luke in teams organised by him for years, and like the style, engagement and mentoring which being part of that team entails. There is such great spirit and camaraderie.
What are your objectives for the next two years?:
Keep improving and placing well in the SRS, flying with friends, pushing my own boundaries and helping to keep the sport as safe as possible for everyone in it. I’d love to help develop new products and techniques to improve the sport. (I am an engineer, after all!)
What advice would you give to new pilots?
Don’t rush the learning, there will always be other days - it is a sport you can grow with, and it will reward in ways you never knew possible.
