Biography

Originally from the Canary Islands, Yeray began paragliding at the age of 12 under the guidance of his father, a paragliding instructor in Tenerife. He soon focused on acrobatic flying and later moved to mainland Spain to further develop his career. After achieving strong competition results, he became a professional GIN pilot and SIV instructor. Today, thanks to his background in both paragliding and his professional career, he is one of GIN Gliders' most experienced test pilots and serves as the company’s Marketing Manager.

What’s your job or profession?:
Marketing manager at Gin Gliders.
Do you have any hobbies besides paragliding?:
By flying I do only paragliding. I enjoy every single discipline, from acro to XC flights, bivouac or XC Competitions. I do other sports such snowboarding, backcountry snowboarding, climbing, or even Tennis!
When and what inspired you to start paragliding?:
My family is running a paragliding school in Tenerife (Canary Islands) since I was born.
What are your favorite flying spots?:
Home, i’ve been flying in many places all around the world, but Pyrenees are still moving something inside me every time i fly here.

What do you like most about flying?:
Freedom, the capability of this sport to transport yourself, physically and mentally to another dimension.
Why do you want to be part of the GIN team?:
Gin Gliders it’s being my life in the last 10 years. Both personally and professionally, I found a family where I shared my personal motivations but also my professional ones. I have plenty of unforgettable moments share around this company.
What are your objectives for the next two years?:
Profesionally we have a lot of new projects and challenges which keeps me motivated to move forward and to keep learning. From the flying part, I would like to invest more time by competing and learning XC competitions. I have some in home flight projects that seems like a dream to me.
What advice would you give to new pilots?
Enjoy. Paragliding is a sport make to enjoy, don’t obsess with your progression, or with any goal. If you find the way enjoying truly what you’re doing, the rest will follow alone.
