Mattia Vosti Wins Swiss Cup Ticino Sport Class

1st Sport Class, 1st Junior and 6th Overall for Mattia flying the GTO 3

The Swiss Cup Ticino Monte Lema took place over the weekend of May 1–3, featuring two demanding race tasks set in stunning yet challenging conditions along the Swiss–Italian border.

The competition opened with a 65 km task where conditions proved turbulent, requiring careful energy management and strategic decision-making, especially on final glide. Day two raised the bar further with a demanding 105 km task, pushing pilots deep into the mountains under a lower-than-expected cloud base.

Among the standout performances of the competition, Mattia Vosti delivered an exceptional result flying the GTO 3. Demonstrating consistency, speed, and tactical precision, he secured 1st place in the Sport Class, 1st place in the Junior category, and an impressive 6th place overall against a strong field of top-level pilots.

“My second big result of the year with my new glider!…

…The race was not easy, we had difficult conditions, such as turbulent air in the first task and lower cloud base as forecasted during the second day. The combination of flying in my hometown with a really fast glider allowed me to be consistent throughout the whole race, achieving P1 in Sport class, P1 in Junior and P6 Overall! I’m so proud of this results and looking forward to SRS in Bassano :)"
