Safari passenger 3

Give your passengers the best

The Safari passenger 3 is designed to give you and your passengers the best experience possible. It's a harness that's easy to use, comfortable, compact and light.

Technical Specifications

Size one size
Pilot height (cm) 150-190
Weight of harness (kg) 2.15
Certification EN/LTF/CE

Comfortable in flight and on landing

The Safari passenger 3 offers excellent support of the whole back, with zero pressure points even on the longest flights. In flight, the inherent stability of the harness helps to ensure your passenger stays calm and comfortable. On landing, the passenger has no tendency to fall in front, due to the careful placement of the centre of gravity of the harness behind the hips.

Easy to trim

The Safari passenger 3 is adjusted from the hips rather than the shoulders. This makes it easier to check that the trim is correct and make any adjustments, since the strap is located in a less sensitive area of the passenger’s body. It’s one simple pull to shorten or lengthen, saving you time. The harness is a single size, but is designed to accommodate a wide range of passenger sizes.

Built to last

A reinforced skid guard on the bottom of the airbag offers protection against wear and tear and can be easily removed and replaced if it becomes worn or damaged.

High durability, low weight

Our well proven 210D Rosetta fabric is highly tear resistant whilst being relatively light weight. Along with other considered material and design choices, the result is a truly outstanding ratio of durability to weight.

Convenient storage

Storage and pockets have been carefully considered in conjunction with the Safari pilot 3 harness. The passenger harness has a large storage capacity in the back pocket to store the passenger’s personal belongings (e.g. shoes). There is also a zipped mesh pocket on the top of the harness, which can be accessed by the pilot in flight. This can be used to store spare batteries, SD cards or other small items. Externally, there is a detachable pocket for a selfie stick and/or GoPro. The pilot harness has ample storage for a fast packing rucksack or bag and 2 zipped side pockets.

First class safety features

Buckles are Edelrid triple lock: simple to open and close, yet impossible to open accidentally. Even if the release button is accidentally pressed, the snap fastener remains hooked into the frame. There is a passenger anti-forget bridle and “easy sitting handles to assist the passenger to get into the harness or give them something to hold on to. The back protector is an airbag, which pre-inflates for maximum security. The optional spreader features a fully enclosed rescue bridle tunnel, which prevents the rescue maillons moving around.

Perfect partners

The Safari passenger 3 has been designed alongside the Safari pilot 3 and the new spreader bars, offering a compelling package for professional tandem pilots.

Designer notes

Designer Ho Woong Lee explains the philosophy behind the Safari 3 pilot and passenger harnesses:

“The goal with these harnesses was to make everything as easy as possible for working tandem pilots. We took a lot of feedback from pilots all over the world and spent considerable time using the prototypes in real conditions.

One of the most satisfying remarks from pilots was how comfortable the harnesses are to sit in and how the geometry and hang position is great for comfort, security and stability. Pilots can really work all day, every day without fatigue or discomfort.

The passenger also has a better flight too. The stability of the harnesses is well suited to more sensitive passengers and the balanced landing position makes it easier to achieve a gentle touch down.

We also paid a lot of attention to achieving compact packing and long term durability, and there are lots of small touches to improve ease-of-use and security. Overall we believe these harnesses will prove to be exactly what many professionals are looking for.”

Caution

Automatic aluminium carabiners have a limited lifetime due to metal fatigue. They must be replaced after 5 years or 500 flight hours, whichever is soonest. They should never be used between spreaders and tandem wing risers as main carabiners. They should also never be used to connect bridles to the reserve.
