Denis Cortella

From 1984 to 1990 climbing and alpinism was Denis’s only way of life, until one day he met a strange guy running constantly down a slope

2 weeks later a teacher was shouting in his ears “run, run!” - he ran - “release your risers” - he took off and was hooked!

A New way of life

After finishing his Mountain guide and ski instructor exams he duly improved his level in paragliding.

Eight months later Denis started competing and after only 2 years he was flying in the French league and then started flying in the World Cup.

Denis was a French team member for 5 years before taking a break from competition between 2001 and 2005. He had hit a block in 2001 - “I didn’t know how to progress and that is why I stopped”. But in 2005 he had a career resurrection! And so began the start of a new chapter in his flying career.

Now captain of the French team, Denis is not flying as much and satisfies himself with more technical challenges like flying quality tasks and setting himself specific objectives.

To pay the bills, he designed the Kortel Design harness and also helps Gin Gliders with harness and glider development.
