14th FAI World Paragliding Championships, Colombia 2015 — Task 6

Agony and Ecstasy

"Another solid day for GIN pilots"

Today was a steady day for the GIN team. There were no fireworks. Just a handful of solid performances by some and minor disappointments for others. This is competitive paragliding at it's very best!

The strength and depth of this World Championship field was once again demonstrated today: the first fifty pilots were separated by less than two minutes after seventy two kilometers and over two hours of flying in tricky conditions which saw many land too early.

Michael Maurer was the first GIN pilot into goal followed by Franz and Marc who scored handsomely along with another four or five all in the high 900's. Time was the essential component today rather than position. Petra is still in range of the women's podium along with Michael and Torsten who are within ten points off the ultimate prize.

Ten points out of four thousand equates to fractions of a second after six tasks which should give you some idea of the intensity of the competition at the very top of the pile.

And so the festival continues in an unending feast of flying..... We wish you were here to share the experience with us!
