XC
Open Series 2007. Piedrahita ~ 01-08 September
The
XC Open Series is a multi-stage competition based at
flying sites particularly suited to cross-country flying.
The general idea is to set open distance tasks each
day in favourable conditions without being too radical.
Freedom of choice is the order of the day for the pilots
at take-off – from route planning to the retrieve.
Competition results are collated from the four best
tasks out of a maximum of eight per event.
From
01 to 08 September the site of Piedrahita in Spain welcomed
the second stage of the 2007 series. The organisers
Hans Bausenwein and Andreas Rieck called on the services
of local guru Steve Ham to best evaluate the conditions
each day which helped the pilots make their best tactical
decisions.
Around
fifty pilots participated, travelling from Europe, South
Africa, Canada and Australia.
