GIN Wide Open Meduno: Petra wins on the GIN Atlas

The GIN Wide Open is a new international competition aimed at developing pilot skills in a fun, supportive environment and bringing together people from all over the world.

GIN team pilot Petra Slívová had as much fun as anyone-flying the new GIN Atlas to first place overall. David Smart won the Sports class, Simon Taylor the Leisure class and Verena Puttrich the Women's class.

Despite weather bad enough to force the cancellation of a stage of the Giro d'Italia, pilots still managed to fly on 4 days. 2 tasks were completed to validate the comp. Full results: http://flywideopen.org/results/overall/comp_result_SERIAL.html

Brian Doub was the deserving winner of a brand new GIN paraglider in the prize draw. Congratulations, Brian!

Between the flying was a programme of social events and daily educational talks—GIN designer and test pilot Torsten Siegel was on hand to answer pilots' questions about glider development and testing.

All credit to the pilots and organisers for an accident-free week—though there were some near misses during the closing party!

Next year, the event moves to Ager, Spain. The dates will be announced soon—updates, pics and more info on the GIN Wide Open Facebook page.

See you next year!
