GIN pilots on the podium at the 14th FAI World Championships

Congratulations to the new world champions Honorin Hamard, Seiko Fukuoka, and team Germany!

The overall lead changed hands several times during the 10 tasks, with only a handful of points separating the top pilots. GIN pilots Michael Maurer and Torsten Siegel flew consistently well to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively on their Boomerang 10's.

The past couple of years have brought success for Torsten, who works as designer and test pilot in the GIN R&D team with Gin Seok Song. Last year Torsten took gold in the European Championships and this time around he added another gold medal to his collection with team Germany.

Michael Maurer, having led for several days, had to settle for the consolation prize of beating his big brother! Michael is fast developing into a complete pilot, having also won the World Acro Championships on the GIN Rage with Adrian Hachen.

There were also some solid task wins for other Boomerang 10 pilots (Petr Kostrhun, Andre Rainsford and Chrigel Maurer)—see the GIN team blog for detailed reports from Andre Rainsford. Chrigel Maurer took 5th and Marc Wensauer 9th to make it a total of 4 Boomerangs in the top 10. We would like to thank all our pilots for making the Worlds such a great sporting occasion and one that we were proud to be a part of.
