German Open: Ulrich and Yassen win on the Boomerang 8 and GTO

Congratulations to Ulrich Prinz and Yassen Savov on their wins, in open and serial classes respectively, at the German Open in Lenggries (June 20th-26th). 3 tasks were flown and several days featured strong winds at higher altitudes.

This was Ulli's first competition on the serial version of the Boomerang 8 and he reported being surprized at how much the wing had improved. He was impressed with the improved take-off, tight turning ability, stable wingtips and general collapse resistance, and perhaps most importantly:

"The flyable top-speed has been increased even further and so it was easy to catch up and pass other gliders during the final glide!"

Yassen reports on his win in the serial class:

"For the German Open I borrowed a Boom GTO, so I could compete for the turbo prize money in Serial Class. It was my first time competing in Serial Class and first time on the GTO. I was concerned that the performance drop from the Boom 8 would cripple me a lot, but when I tried the glider in the first thermal of the first task I could see that I was climbing much better than everybody else and the feeling while thermaling was amazingly good - very easy to feel the core and then also very easy to turn tight. NICE! While gliding I could not compare much with other Serial Class gliders, because I was flying alone or with the Open Class guys. Finally I managed to stay calm and controlling in both tasks, winning both in Serial Class and getting the Money! The crazy thing was that before the final glide in both tasks I was all the time in the front with the leaders from Open Class, which I had thought was quite impossible with a Serial Class glider. Thanks Gin for lending me the glider! Now time to go to the Worlds with my real weapon!:)"
